Oh excuse me?! Am I hearing right?! Window Curtains is being her typical wind bag self and leaving me out of the picture again – just because my name is hard to say. I’m Valance. I hang here at the top of the window and cover the curtain rails so that you and your friends don’t see them. I make sure that you don’t see anything ugly.
There are some ugly things in the world out there. When you grow up you will start to hear and learn about them. You see, I hear the same stories that your Safari Curtains hear. Because I am a protector, I tell window curtains what bad stories not to tell your friends in the décor all around your room.
I capture these stories and tuck them into the curtain railings when the curtains are closed. The next time the windows are open and someone opens your curtains, the bad stories get squeezed out from the railings and pushed back outside.
There are some things young people just don’t need to hear. Some of these bad stories you might hear from your friends on your street, at your care center or at school. Whenever you hear something that sounds nasty hang on to it, like I do. Don’t tell someone else until you have shared it with your Mom or Dad or someone who loves you dearly. They will help explain it so that it never harms you.
