Fish Clock

Can fish tell the time? Certainly not from a clock! The fish clock in your bedroom is there to blend with the big fish framed print, the two fish framed print, the Somethin’ Fishy woven throw and the unframed art print. The wall clock is there for you to learn to tell the time of the day – especially bedtime and story time. The hands of the clock help point to the many stories your story teller can tell you about life under the sea.

So how can fish tell time during the day? If you were a fish swimming around down there, how would you know the difference between day time and nighttime? Of course, from the time the sun comes up it will be much lighter and easier to see near the surface of the water. When the sun goes down, everything is dark. It’s just like the world you live in.

Fish can also tell things from the tides. If you live near the beach or a sea inlet, you’ve probably noticed that sometimes the water rides high up on the beach or sides of the river. At other times the water stops further out. When the water is high, people call this “High Tide.” When the water is low, people call this “Low Tide.”

High Tide and Low Tide happen at different times of the day. One thing that fish know is that most large fish get hungry during high tide. Little fish know that they need to be extra careful when they feel the water swirling up and pushing up higher during high tide.

The hands of your fish clock can tell you the time of day. As soon as you learn to count numbers, you will be able to learn how to tell the time. To help you learn your numbers from one through twelve, why don’t you and your story teller play a counting game each night? When you really know your numbers, ask you story teller to help you to learn how to tell the time of the day on your clock.
